The KoQ Server is now running 2.65b, the "no cheat version!" Thank you, Mr. Admin. :) Although it was never a problem for us in our scrimmages, atleast it ensures it will never become an issue. TFS just released 2.65c, which fixes a few more things -- but limits the Soldier into only carrying 2 nail grenades at maximum... so I don't really look forward to revision c. Its not a bad idea, but I think nalpalm and mirvs should have the restriction too if applied to nail grenades.
League Play, part 2
Visit the Iron Glove League. Take a stroll and have a look around. I'll have something to announce -- shortly. :)
I don't know if this is a joke, but I've heard that the best selling Halloween mask this year is the Marv "munchy" Albert rubber mask. Spooky!
I will not sell my copy just yet -- for I do have hope that maybe things will improve someday. Especially since news of the Diablo expansion pack (Hellfire) will not include multi-player capabilities. Talk about a crappy situation... either wait for Origin to get their act together, or wait for Diablo II.
A few people are working on a server simulator for UO, so we can run it locally either single player or 8 player lan. This sounds promising, and here is the UOX page.
Finally, here is a scanned runic alphabet taken from Ultima IV. Everything is the same as far as I can tell, except that the "J" is a slight bit different. Hope it helps you all that seem to get a bit more out of UO than I did.
A game should be enjoyable... UO is not. And I don't care if you agree with me. :)
Here's the schedule with this new session:
Tuesdays @ 8:00pm CST - Public
Server hopping (Optional)
Thursdays @ 10:00pm CST - Normal practice / clan battles
Saturdays @ 9:30am CST - Normal practice
As usual, meet in IRC before going to our private
Soldier Boot Camp was pretty successful, and I hope everyone had fun and learned a few new tricks at the same time. The purpose of these class-specific practices sessions is to give everyone a taste of different classes, being taught by the people who specialize in them. I know I tend to stick with the same few classes myself... We'll cover most of the major classes when we have free practice slots.
I must admit, it was a sight to see a server entirely full of Soldiers... :) Hopefully everyone (even you Demomen out there!) appreciates this class a bit more.
In case you haven't noticed, our statistical breakdown from our scrimmage with PH is available at the restricted area.
This update is ideal for those who are having problems with Quake and their pings, and anyone is who interested in having the most recent files on their system. This is a much easier way of getting these files then hunting for them specifically on the MS site.
Post any questions about this to Kouros on the Message Board.
It was not overloaded, plus you get the pleasure of downloading Quake from an Unreal site.
We had a great time scrimmaging them, and hope we can do it again in the future. Thanks to all parties involved with last night's scrimmage.
Sorry about the short notice, but it was the best I could do! But I think many of you had an idea this was upcoming...
This just posted on the official Team Fortress website:
TeamFortress 2.65 BugFix
The TF 2.65 BugFix is in testing and you'll probably see it running on various servers within the hour. It fixes most, if not all, of the known cheats in TF. It is not an official release yet... and won't be until we're sure it fixes all the cheats. You can do your bit by playing on BugFix servers and keeping an eye out for anyone cheating.
Please don't mail us reports of people cheating on non 2.65 Bugfix servers... we know it's possible, and we know how it's done.
Official release should be within the next
couple of days.
Maybe it is just me...
I'm annoyed at the current cheating taking place just as much as everyone else out there. But do you know what is almost as annoying as the cheaters? Paranoid people who think EVERYONE out there is cheating.
Snare got kicked from a game because he killed a large amount of people in a short time span. The admin assumed he was cheat! No way... he nuked a ton of people with mirvs and had a great fragging moment. Not to mention he is a terrific player anyway...
I think I am going to stay away from public games until TFS releases 2.65, otherwise its only a matter of time before someone kicks me for something I didn't do. This time, I hope TFS doesn't leave any backdoors open. (Can you imagine that at one time, I believed that cheating was not possible to TF?)
Well, it appears to be working again. Keep your fingers crossed!
Not really "new", but here are some class specific sites to read over:
Promethium Spy Academy - Nice spy config files...
Moriarty's Engineer Haven - A good starting point for aspiring engineers.
The Knoll - Advice for all you snipers, er -- one shot wonders. :)
Thursday nights, 10:00pm CST.
Having Thursday as well as our Saturday practices will 1) give us more time to work together as a unit, 2) enable more members to attend our meetings, 3) ultimately help speed the process of KoQ initiating scrimmages and matches.
As always, send an email if you cannot attend a practice session. Hope to see everyone on Thursday night.
Pilate is an Attorney from Grand Forks, ND. He has been playing TF for the past six months and enjoys being a Sniper or HW Guy.
Sr.Vive works as a Computer Technician and hails from Houston, TX. He and Snare used to play together in a Warcraft 2 clan. The Medic and Pyro are his preferred classes.
We're honored to have them in our clan. Damn, we're looking good. :-)
Additional Practice Day
We will more than likely add Thursday nights @ 10:00pm CST to our practice schedule. This additional day will give us more opportunties to practice as a unit. Please send me an email if this time/day is not convenient for you. I'll post a message as soon as this timeslot is confirmed.
